Local Government Inaugurates Renovated River Walkway with Residents

The local government, together with residents and educational groups, has inaugurated the new river walkway of the Guadaiza River, a regenerated space three kilometers long in the La Campana area of Nueva Andalucía. The project, aimed at ‘Renaturalization and Flood Risk Mitigation’, received an investment of 2.8 million euros. Mayor Ángeles Muñoz, who participated in the walk along with Deputy Mayor Javier García, emphasized that this is a ‘strategic sustainability initiative’. Around 60,000 square meters of invasive species, mainly reeds, were removed to reduce the risk of flooding, and over 8,000 native plants were planted to promote biodiversity recovery and create shelters for local wildlife.
