City Council Establishes Data Protection Unit to Enhance Security and Transparency in Municipal Management
The City Council has approved the creation of a data protection unit in today’s Local Government Board meeting, an entity that will organize, supervise, and ensure that all municipal procedures comply with current regulations governing this area. The Government’s spokesperson, Félix Romero, stated that ‘it is an initiative that reflects our commitment to freedom, privacy, and proper management of citizens’ information’ and added that ‘we want any resident to be able to exercise their rights easily, also through electronic means, with total transparency.’ He emphasized that ‘among its main functions, it highlights the establishment of clear and accessible procedures so that users can know at all times the purpose and legal basis of the processing of their data.’
