Mayor emphasizes prudence and social focus in municipal budgets for 2026

Mayor Ángeles Muñoz highlighted today that the municipal budgets for 2026, totaling €448,915,431, are ‘prudent, rigorous, social, and prioritize investments’. The mayor, who presented the general lines of the document, stated that the City Council’s budget, to be initially approved next week in an extraordinary session, represents an 11.37% increase compared to 2025 (around €45.8 million more). She emphasized the commitment to approve the budgets on time for them to take effect on January 1st, maintaining a stable fiscal policy, freezing taxes, and providing €10 million in tax breaks. In addition, €8 million will be allocated to continue offering free public transportation for registered residents, totaling €18 million for citizen services.
