Marbella Gears Up for the Media Marathon on September 28th, Breaking Its Own Record with 2,500 Runners
The upcoming Media Marathon in Marbella, set to take place on September 28th, is heating up and breaking its own record with 2,500 athletes in this edition, including the main race, relays, and charity run. The Sports Councillor, Lisandro Vieytes, highlighted that this event continues to showcase our city as a premier destination for hosting major sporting events, with 50% of participants being foreigners. A total of 70 nationalities are represented in the ‘Sierra Blanca States Marbella Media Marathon,’ with a notable increase in female participation accounting for 40% of the entries. Vieytes emphasized that this race marks the beginning of the sporting calendar and is significant both in the sports and tourism aspects. He mentioned that the initial goal was 2,000 participants, but they reached 2,500, leaving many runners on the waiting list. Therefore, they are considering introducing an urban route to accommodate more athletes, prioritizing quality over quantity.
