Local Police strengthens control over cleanliness and waste infractions with 357 citations in the first half of the year
The Local Police in Marbella has issued a total of 357 infringement citations related to street cleaning and waste management between January and June 2026, as part of their surveillance and control efforts in coordination with the municipal delegation to ensure compliance with the municipal ordinance and Waste and Contaminated Soil Law 7/2022 for a circular economy. Police spokesperson Miguel Ángel Benítez explained that ‘failure to adhere to the garbage disposal schedule continues to be the most common infraction detected by officers,’ although he noted that ‘this year has seen increased public awareness and a decrease in such behaviors due to the vigilance work carried out and the improved understanding of regulations by residents and businesses.’
