Unemployment Rate in Marbella Drops Over 10% in the Last Year

The City Council has released employment data for April 2026, showing a positive trend in the city’s job market. The number of unemployed individuals has decreased to 6,683, a 4.2% drop from March. Year-on-year, unemployment has fallen by 10.79%, with 808 fewer unemployed people compared to the same period in 2025. In terms of new hires, 4,932 employment contracts were signed in April, marking a 3.5% increase from the previous month (169 more) and compared to the previous year (168 more). Alejandro Freijo, the director general of the department, emphasized the significance of these numbers during a crucial period for the local economy, coinciding with the Easter week and the start of the pre-high tourist season.
