San Pedro Alcántara Pays Tribute to Pepe Merchán for His Public Service and Contribution to Music and Culture
The City Council has paid tribute to Pepe Merchán today for his dedication to public service and his contribution to the musical and cultural development of San Pedro Alcántara. The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, highlighted during the ceremony held at the Sampedreña Tourist Office, that Merchán was part of one of the first musical groups in San Pedro, ‘Los Problemas’, in addition to promoting a band of bugles, drums, and bagpipes that allowed numerous young people to approach the world of music. The mayor emphasized, ‘This is a tribute to a very beloved person in San Pedro, who has been a civil servant in the Deputy Mayor’s Office for more than 40 years.’ She also stressed that with this ceremony, ‘we also want to acknowledge the fundamental role he has played in reaching many generations of residents through his work and dedication.’
