Mayor highlights Puerto Banús’ role in marine biodiversity protection and environmental sustainability

Marbella hosted the event ‘Sustainability in Mediterranean marinas’, bringing together international experts, port managers, institutional representatives, and environmental stakeholders to discuss challenges and progress in marine ecosystem protection. Mayor Ángeles Muñoz emphasized Puerto Banús’ international role in implementing a real sustainability model, creating marine habitats, reducing plastic use, and advancing species protection through pioneering initiatives with the University of Seville and strong support from the City Council. She stated that this facility shows the possibility of combining nautical and tourist excellence with environmental respect, establishing itself as a regenerative port example where luxury and sustainability go hand in hand.
