Marpoética: Bringing Poetry from the Path to the Sea
In its ninth edition, Marpoética has designed a poetic map that goes from the mountains to the sea, taking written word out of its usual academic packaging to present it directly to citizens in new settings. Activities like the ‘Poetic Path’ in Sierra Blanca with author Andrés Neuman and the ‘Harvesting Verses’ cycle featuring recitals on a catamaran by Elsa Moreno, Erika Martínez, Agustín Pérez Leal, and Samuel Díaz Castañeda aim to transcend the confines of books and restore poetry as a shared experience. Over the weekend, around thirty poetry enthusiasts participated in the first of the proposed activities led by retired Philosophy professor José Antonio Morán, a great connoisseur of the Marbella mountains. The journey followed the course of the Guadalpín River to the abandoned hermitage of Los Monjes and then descended through the Hoya de las Papeletas. Along the circular route, Neuman provided insights into the history of poetry from East to West, concluding with his own poems.
