Marbella Releases Two Loggerhead Turtles Back Into the Sea After Completing Their Recovery
Marbella has hosted the release of two loggerhead turtles, Pepa and Hulia, who have successfully completed their respective rehabilitation processes and have been deemed fit by specialists to return to their natural habitat. The two animals, originating from the provinces of Malaga and Almeria, were rescued in situations that seriously threatened their survival and have received veterinary care and specialized attention until they have regained suitable conditions to thrive in the Mediterranean. The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, has expressed gratitude for choosing the city to carry out this initiative and has emphasized the coordination among the Ministry of Environment, biodiversity specialized organizations, SEPRONA, veterinary teams from the Andalusian Marine Management Center, and the Seville Aquarium, among other professionals and entities. She noted that the release signifies ‘the outcome of a joint effort to return two animals that were found in life-threatening circumstances back to the sea.’
