Increased Local Police enforcement leads to over a thousand fines for waste ordinance violations

The increased presence of Local Police in monitoring compliance with the Municipal Cleaning and Waste Ordinance, as well as Law 7/2022 on waste and contaminated land, has resulted in over a thousand fines throughout the year, nearly triple the number recorded in 2024. The police inspector and spokesperson, Miguel Ángel Benítez, explained that the aim of this initiative is to enhance urban cleanliness and promote responsible behavior among the public. This effort is carried out in collaboration with the Cleaning department, involving both patrol units and a dedicated administrative team, focusing particularly on the so-called ‘black spots’ in the municipality.
