The City Council has granted a 12,000 euro subsidy to the Cofradías de Semana Santa Association with the aim of supporting the operating expenses of Caritas’ solidarity grocery store, an essential resource that aids families in vulnerable situations and is managed by these brotherhoods. Councilor José Eduardo Díaz emphasized that ‘this municipal aid is a demonstration of the City’s strong commitment to the social work carried out by these groups throughout the year, especially through initiatives as necessary as this one, which ensures basic food and dignity for hundreds of people in our city.’ The councilor highlighted that ‘the brotherhoods not only represent a fundamental part of our cultural and religious heritage, but also play a key role in social action, with exemplary management based on solidarity and altruism.’
