Emergency Works to Enhance Safety of Rio Verde Channel Nearing 50% Completion

Emergency works to enhance the safety of the Rio Verde channel are nearing 50% completion. The councilor of the area, Diego López, has emphasized that these works aim to increase water and environmental protection in the area, focusing on preventing flood risks in a zone classified as ‘significant risk,’ which impacts nearby residential areas and various infrastructures. The ongoing tasks involve comprehensive cleaning of the area and its banks, removal of debris and inappropriate elements, elimination of transversal barriers obstructing water flow, eradication of invasive exotic species, and reduction of the canebrake to promote native vegetation. ‘With these actions, the hydraulic capacity is expected to improve, protecting residents and nearby facilities from potential water torrents,’ he added.
