Puerto Banús Tunnel Reopens to Traffic After Completion of Improvement Works
The City Council has reopened the Puerto Banús tunnel to traffic today after the completion of improvement works aimed at preventing floods. The project, carried out over a length of 212 meters on Juan Belmonte Street and affecting 2,345 square meters of surface, began during the December holiday and will be completed in the coming days with finishing touches. The initiative included the construction of a new drainage network with eight manholes, noise-reducing sewers, and two absorbent drains to enhance rainwater collection and prevent issues that arose during heavy rainfall. To achieve this, the roadway elevation at the lowest point of the underpass, where the drains are located, has been raised above the runoff discharge point in the Benabolá stream, which previously lacked absorption capacity.
