Marbella Pays Tribute to the Legion by Naming a Public Space in Recognition of Close Relationship

Marbella paid tribute to the Spanish Legion by naming a public space in recognition of the close bond it maintains with the municipality, which has been forged over more than three decades based on respect, collaboration, and mutual affection. The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, highlighted the Legion’s presence in the town’s Holy Week, especially in the Good Friday procession, which holds iconic and emotional significance for residents and visitors. The event also recognized milestones such as the Legion’s appointment in 2016 as the Honorary Chief Brother of the Nazarene Brotherhood and its participation in the city’s first civilian flag swearing ceremony in 2018. The longstanding affection for this military institution was previously shown with a commemorative plaque on the Town Hall’s main facade in Plaza de los Naranjos, but today we are fulfilling a pending debt by naming this public space.
