Marbella City Council Removes 1,800 Tons of Invasive Seaweed in First Half of July

The Marbella City Council has removed over 1.8 million kilograms of invasive seaweed ‘rugulopteryx okamurae’ from the coastline during the first half of July, equivalent to 90 trucks of 20 tons each. This alarming amount underscores the urgent need for intervention from the central government, as stated by the councilor for Cleaning, Beaches, and Environment, Diego López. The lack of financial and technical support from the national government has been criticized, highlighting the need for immediate action to address the environmental emergency impacting the local community.
