Local Government to Illuminate Municipal Sites in Green to Support Perthes Disease Patients
The local government will illuminate several municipal sites in green this Saturday, January 17, as a show of support for families affected by Perthes disease. This rare condition affects children between 3 and 12 years old, leading to avascular necrosis of the femoral head due to interrupted blood flow. The disease results in bone death, causing hip deformity, pain, limping, and functional limitations that hinder normal activities. Some cases may require surgical interventions if natural bone regeneration does not occur within two to four years.
